Employment Contracts, Termination Agreements, Redundancy and other issues

Just as individual employees need advice as to employment matters so too does the business that employs them. Very often in a small to medium sized business the owners are so busy concentrating on making a success of the business venture that they can lose sight of their obligations towards the workforce and not deal with employment issues correctly.

We can advise as to the statutory requirements of employment contracts, disciplinary and dismissal procedures and keep you up to date with the ever increasing anti-discrimination laws. By creating and maintaining the right employment environment the risk of claims in respect of unfair dismissal or similar is not only reduced but can be more easily managed.

If there is a need to terminate an employee contract we can advise you of the procedures you must comply with and whether or not you could be facing claims from the employee. If necessary we can help negotiate and then draft a Compromise Agreement or, if unavoidable, represent you in Employment Tribunal proceedings.

Whenever a business is acquired or sold there are always employment issues to be dealt with, be you a seller or a buyer. It is critical that such issues are addressed during the early stages of a transaction to avoid unpleasant and potentially very costly surprises.
